What is the purpose of the content found in the cache folder? Is it okay to flush it once in a while or does the system need those files on an ongoing basis and therefore I should NOT delete the files in the cache folder.

In this folder I also have a 101MB+ file named error_log_43423432423 and it is getting frequent updates. Since there is another error log file in the root folder of jamit as well, what is this error log for?
