OK, here is the problem, some of my backfill feeds are set up so generalized that I am finding I have to feed them to the unapproved folder then set them to the right category before accepting them in. As you can imagine this is a huge time consuming pain, but it is the only way I can find so far to prevent them from creating their own categories or not being found in the search for those jobs.

Just so everyone understands, I do not use the Indeed or Simply Hired backfill because this would create duplicate (triplicate and more) copies of the same job listings.

I want to know if there is a subroutine that can be written in where these feeds can find their correct categories. Using the existing routine in the XML import isn't working. when I use that one of two things happens: 1) it doesn't bother searching and a new "category" is created which is actually the job title itself or 2) it fails to find the correct category and doesn't import the listing.

For example, I have a category for Banking and Finance, and there are 5 jobs with the term Finance in the job title. The existing directions to find a category based on the content of the job title fails to see the word Finance and doesn't import the job. Because I have more than type of job I advertise, using the example given by Adam in the advanced XML importing  how to will not work. I need a solution that will enable the feed to actually look at the full words in the job title and find the categoy without human interaction. Any ideas???

there are quite many xml feeds with jobs over internet. i looked at the tool to import new jobs offered by admin interface... you need to fill in certain feelds which are not available,..

so... i think it's easier to create your own xml parser, triggered when you loggin or in cron and solve it faster and easier..
