Google recommended ad placement:
Top Rectangle ad or Leaderboard.
One ad at the right column and one at the bottom.
This is sufficient to have a good click through rate.

Placing ads between ad posts is not recommended, it might some times mislead the user to click on the ad, you should look at big job boards how they have the ad placements.

Google's advice is rather more sophisticated than that - and as they put it "tight integration within the content" is positively encouraged.

As to click-rates/ad revenue - embedding the ads in the content has doubled my CTR and had a commensurate impact on revenues.
