Hello Everybody,

I have just set up my Jamit site and things are going pretty good so far.  I have one issue. . . .I have create some categories but there are strange symbols included in the hierarchy when selecting categories as a job poster and when viewing as a job seeker.

Anyone know what I need to do do get rid of them?  I have attached a screen shot.

Thanks,
Phil

The version of Job Board you are using does not support UTF-8. This does not allow the use of characters other than ASCII, unless you use the conversion tool that is included with Job Board.

Despite this limitation, people have used script such as Russian Cyrillic, Arabic etc. with success.

To my knowledge, JB version 4.0 (not released yet) will support UTF-8.

Hello Peter,

Please tell me more about the conversion tool and how could I adjust it.

We just managed to put lingojob.com on 3.6.11 recently and now my clients can not post jobs as the ő characters kill the whole process.

I would be very happy to have proper UTF-8 on the board and also to get rid of the á é ő ú ű ó ö ü from the URL. I have already told that to Adam, this is not good practice from SEO point of view to have accents in the URL and no one does it in Hungary (except the Hungarian Wikipedia) .

Thanks for your help in advance.

I realized the only problem was this stripe non-iso characters setting in the admin. I disabled this and now the ad can be displayed fine however on the main page the short description of the ad shows with funny characters which seems to be wrong encoding.

Can you advise me where can I set the encoding for the short description. I guess somewhere list.inc.php or job list attributes ?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

This problem has been solved with the job description. Finally managed to eliminate all the encodings and change them to UTF-8. So now I have an UTF-8 job board. yupiii  Grin
