Using Google Apps to send emails from Jamit

My site's email flow is running into the daily limits set by the host. Therefore, I want to switch mail sending from PHP mail() function to SMTP, and use the mail server provided by google apps.

Has anyone done this successfully and what values worked for you?

When I enter the smtp and pop server details provided by Google Apps in the Main Config area and click "test POP Connection" I get the error "Error: 110 could not connect to the host "pop.gmail.com"

Any ideas how to fix the problem.

I'm having the same problem. I submitted it as a bug report ticket. Did you ever find a solution?
